Hateruma Island preserves and passes down unique performing arts even within the Yaeyama Islands. Particularly, the “Musha-ma”  held on the middle day of the traditional Bon festival is a celebration where numerous performing arts imbued with prayers for bountiful harvests and honoring ancestors remain. This performance centers on the folk performing arts performed during the “Musha-ma”.
