Kumiodori Performance in May

    Kumiodori   "Mekarushi”"Onnamonogurui"   


This performance will include "Mekarushi" and "OnnaMonogurui," two pieces from the immortal masterpiece by Chokun Tamagusuku, the creator of Kumiodori, which depict the love and bond between a mother and children.


One day, a farmer, Mekarushi, finds a heavenly maiden washing her hair in a spring, and is so captivated by her beauty that he hides her heavenly robe of feathers.
The heavenly maiden, who could not return to the heavenly world without her robe of feathers, became a married couple with Mekarushi. But one day, when she became a mother of two children and lived happily, she learned the whereabouts of her robe of feathers from the song of her children...


When a child is playing, a kidnapper deceives him with words and takes him away. While the kidnapper is sleeping, the child asks for help from a monk at the temple and is rescued.
Meanwhile, the mother, whose child is missing, becomes insane and wanders around looking for her child...
