Story

The wife of Yaskawa-no-shi who lost her husband early on in her life, has been making a living working as a weaver and doing other work in the countryside in order to raise her only son, Chiyomatsu. Although she is a mother (wife of Yaskawa-no-shi) who wants Chiyomatsu to become educated as a child of a samurai, Chiyomatsu keeps upsetting his mother by acting like a farmer in the countryside and like a townsman when they moved to the town. Therefore, his mother comes up with a plan and moves for the third time to a place near a school in Takamine Village, where Chiyomatsu starts studying hard. While leading a humble life in Takamine Village, Chiyomatsu continues studying diligently, and one day, he draws the attention of Toyomatsu-no-Aji, who is renowned as a benevolent lord, and Chiyomatsu and his mother gain the Aji’s favor as a good role model for society.
