Details

This performance is the second in the “Utakata” series, through which you can enjoy the charm of traditional Okinawan folk songs.

Under the organization and direction of Kazufumi Miyazawa, former member of a Japanese band called THE BOOM, the audience can enjoy the world of shimauta (island songs), which have been handed down throughout the islands of the Ryukyu arc, performed by young talented singers.

Seeking to pass on Okinawan folk songs to the next generation, former THE BOOM member Kazufumi Miyazawa went around meeting about 250 singers in four years from 2012 and produced a 17-disc CD box set titled “A Complete Collection of Okinawa, Miyako, and Yaeyama Folk Songs vol.1 Utakata” and donated the box sets to public facilities in Japan and overseas as a not-for-sale item.
