Focusing on Okinawan musical instruments, this performance will allow the audience to fully enjoy the “sound” of the five instruments used in Ryukyuan classical performing arts: sanshin, koto, kokyu, hue, and taiko. The pure “sound” of these instruments, which are conventionally used only as accompaniment to songs, will be introduced through a variety of genres, including classical music, Okinawan folk songs, instrumental music, and contemporary pieces. After the performance, a hands-on experience with musical instruments will be held to bring the audience closer to Okinawan musical instruments.
